Monday morning upon entering the classroom Mlle. Tosh did not let us sit on chairs. She then asked the class what we have done to deserve the right to sit and get a free education while other kids our age, around the world, have to work and take care of their families. She may have had a point!
As a class, we discussed how most of our rights and freedoms came from other people risking their lives for us. Mlle Tosh also pointed out that many students from our class had parents who were from other countries and chose to live in Canada for a better life.
Prior to Remembrance Day, Sana and Amber made a wreath out of the poppies that our class had created by tracing their hands and writing meaningful words on poppies.
It was to symbolize a pledge to support and remember the soldiers lost and still fighting for a better Canada.
On the 11th of November 2014 it was Remembrance Day.
Mlle Tosh collected donations and gave the class their poppies.
The school had an assembly to thank the Canadian soldiers that risked their lives for our freedom. During the assembly Sana and Isla brought the wreath to the front of the gym and placed it onto the floor in front of a memorial display.
During the day the class did some Remembrance Day activities like our French booklets where we explained how we were thankful for the soldiers fighting for us and what Remembrance Day really meant to us. Mlle Tosh recorded us, individually sharing our answers and compiled a class video. She was very proud of the class' answers and contributions.
